Jane Douglass, a 1993 graduate of Atascadero High School, was married Aug. 4 in Carbondale, Colo. to James Johnston Funsten IV. The wedding took place on the grounds of the historic Missouri Heights Schoolhouse, overlooking the Roaring Fork Valley and the mountains beyond. Val Douglass, Jane’s sister, was the matron of honor. Junior attendants were Jim’s eight-year-old son, Max and Val’s nine-year-old daughter Zella and seven-year-old son, Zach. The officiant was Pat Henry, retired principal of the school where Jane is a teacher.
Friends and family came from Colorado, California, Nevada, Wyoming, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon, North Carolina and France to attend.
Jane is the daughter of Steve and Myra Douglass of Atascadero. She graduated from Chico State and earned her teaching credential from Cal State Monterey Bay. Jane has taught at Basalt Middle School in Basalt, Colo. since 2000.
Jim is the son of James J. Funsten III and Liz Funsten of San Francisco. He graduated from Marin Academy in San Rafael, Calif. and the University of Colorado with a degree in Geography. He is owner/operator of Bionomic Trucking in Carbondale, Colo.
