PASO ROBLES — Hundreds of 4-H and FFA students from all over San Luis Obispo County brought their projects to auction at the Mid-State Fair Saturday — finally receiving a pay-off for the months of hard work they put in raising and caring for their animals.
In all, a total of 849 animals were auctioned, including 81 steers, 193 lambs, 443 hogs, 54 goats, four rabbit pens and four chicken pens, bringing in a total $2,107,90.85.
Robin Righetti, of Edna 4-H in San Luis Obispo, was the top earner at the auction, bringing home $10,100 for her Reserve Grand Champion heifer, with Jessica Judge, of San Luis Obispo FFA, right on her heels, bringing in $7,700 for her Grand Champion heifer.
