Mud around Atascadero Lake presents a sticky situation

Posted: Friday, Jul 18th, 2014

ATASCADERO — City crews have installed five additional signs on the east side of Atascadero Lake, warning people to stay out of the mud surrounding the receding shoreline.

Atascadero resident Megan Olshefski says her boyfriend got stuck in the mud back in May while trying to feed the ducks and lost a shoe. Olshefski, with her lighter weight, thought she’d be able to walk on the mud without sinking and went to retrieve the shoe, but also ended up sinking and losing her own shoe.
