Heat rain on the Thunder

ATASCADERO — The junior high division Atascadero Youth Basketball Thunder looked to deliver t he first loss of the season to the undefeated Heat on Tuesday at Colony Park Community Center. The Heat, led by the Olivias — Wendorff and Sprouse — and Ashley Ioppini, ran away with the win to improve their record to 3-0.

The Heat’s impact player in the first half was Brigido Puentes, who blocked five shots in the first quarter as the Heat took control early.

Wendorff drained a 3-pointer over the outstretched arm of Kaleb Smith to put the Heat up, 5-0. Sprouse dished an outlet pass to Ioppini for the layup, and the Heat quickly ran out to a 9-0 lead.
