TEMPLETON — The North County Indians invited the Fairfield Indians for a three-game series and narrowly escaped the series with a sweep after holding off Fairfield’s game-two comeback for a 6-5 victory on Saturday at Templeton Athletic Park.
North County began the series on Friday with a dominating 12-1 victory. NC catcher Austin Kron and third baseman Josh Ramirez each went 3 for 3 with two doubles, driving in seven runs between them. Kron hit two RBI and Ramirez hit five. Atascadero High School alum Corbin Meikle hit 2 for 4 with one RBI and scored three runs. Paso Robles High School alum Mac Stuart was 2 for 3 with one RBI and one run scored. Christian Priore and Myles Franklin each got a hit and two runs scored, with Priore hitting an RBI. Stuart, Meikle and Franklin each belted a double. Starting pitcher Jamie Good earned the win.
The NC Indians continued their dominance through the first four innings of Saturday’s game, jumping out to a 6-2 lead behind the bat of Johnny Balliet, who hit a double to left field to score Ramirez and Davey Casciola, and Stuart for the go-ahead runs to pull from behind 2-1 for the 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third.
Balliet is a recent addition to the NC team, and made an immediate impact.
