Ilene Marie Cropper, passed from this life into her loving Saviorís arms on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the age of 92. Ilene was born in Custer, Ark. on Dec. 31, 1921 to S.C. Rowlett and Cleadith Minor Rowlett. Ilene was one of eight children, born to S.C. and Cleadith.
Ilene was a member of the Church of Christ, baptized at the age of 14. She attended San Jacinto Church of Christ until her health failed. Ilene married Ralph Cropper on April 12, 1941 in Henderson, Ark.
After a short period, they moved to Paso Robles and then to Carissa Plains, and began working for the Trevor Ranch, eventually moving to and settling in Atascadero where they started a trucking company in 1946. They operated Cropper Trucking for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Ralph in 2008 and her five brothers, Cecil, Glen, Leahmon, Rudy and Bob; and two sisters, Corene Trivitt and Berniece Kirkland.
Ilene is survived by her daughter, Sharon (John) Taylor of Atascadero; son, Virgil (Judy) Coble of Visalia; two grandsons, Rodney and John (Jodi) Taylor of Atascadero; one granddaughter, Jenna (Tom) Wyatt of Visalia; four great-grandsons, Dace Taylor of Visalia, Dakota Taylor of Paso Robles and Dalton and Hayden Taylor of Atascadero; two great-granddaughters, Riley and McKenna Wyatt of Visalia; three sister-in-laws, Imogene Rowlett Thixton, and Frankie Rowlett, both of Paso Robles, and Estella Cropper of Springfield, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews from each side of the family.
A graveside service was held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Templeton Cemetery.For the complete article see the 04-30-2014 issue.
