SAN LUIS OBISPO óThe County Clerk-Recorderís office is looking for pollworkers and Adopt-a-Poll groups for the June 3 Primary Election. San Luis Obispo County employs approximately 1,000 precinct workers each election to work at the polls on Election Day. Pollworkers must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a registered voter in California or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Traditionally, it is a challenge to fill pollworker assignments during the June election because of activities related to the end of the school year and vacations. This year is no exception. There are also 10 additional precincts to staff this election due to population growth in certain areas of the county.
Adopt-a-Polls are great fundraisers for service clubs, church groups, and non-profit organizations where these groups utilize their members to fill the pollworker slots at a precinct, which can be performed in shifts. An organization can earn from $448-$525 for working on Election Day and attending the precinct worker training sessions.
Be a part of democracy and assist voters at the polls on Election Day. For more information, contact the County Clerk-Recorderís office via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 781-4106.For the complete article see the 04-16-2014 issue.
