ATASCADERO According to a report from the American Lung Association released Wednesday, the city of Atascadero is not doing as much as they could be to curb tobacco smoking.
The ALAs State of Tobacco Control 2014 report gave Atascadero a grade of F based on the grading criteria of smoke free outdoor air in places like dining establishments, public events, recreation areas, sidewalks and work sites; the number of non-smoking housing units, and the reduction of tobacco sales through retailer licensing, eliminating sales near schools and parks, and eliminating sales in pharmacies.
Atascadero received a total of four points for providing smoke-free recreation areas, but scored zeros in every other category. For the complete article see the 01-24-2014 issue.
