ATASCADERO — The Atascadero Police Department has recovered three van loads of stolen property valued at about $150,000 in an ongoing investigation that involves a global credit card scam, suspects in the Bay Area and the department’s working alongside the United States Secret Service.

The case started in August when Farwest Line Specialties, an Atascadero business, reported suspicious credit card orders that dated back to April.

“There was a $12,000 order then the next day another one, and it was one of those cases where it just didn’t seem right,” said Farwest Manager Matt Clemens. “We called the credit card company and started exploring it more. We were able to cancel that second order and get the first one back too, but there were just over $30,000 of items that were already stolen.”
