Greyhound leads off Macy’s parade

NEW YORK — For more than 50 million people, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is done snuggled in the comfort of their living room, drinking their favorite hot drink and getting ready to stuff their faces with family. Very few ever make the journey to the sidelines to watch the larger-than-life balloons, floats and marching bands head down 6th Avenue, but Atascadero High School senior Jack Ellis has taken the parade experience to the next level.

Ellis is a member of the AHS marching band and was invited to pack his trumpet and join 249 other high school marching band members from the 50 states to lead the 87th annual parade as The Macy’s Great American Marching Band.
