ATASCADERO — A project currently being put together by a group of local volunteers could soon give those with special needs a safe place to have fun and socialize in Atascadero.
Project organizer Jenell Beatty-Allen says the city has agreed to donated a piece of unused land behind the Colony Park Community Center on Traffic Way for the purpose of building a special needs park, complete with a safety fence and playground equipment specially designed for those with special needs.
Beatty-Allen says the idea first came up in discussions in a Facebook group made up of parents of special needs children at the San Gabriel special needs preschool. For the complete article see the 11-20-2013 issue.
