ATASCADERO — What California Central Coast city gets 50 tons of snowfall during the winter? Atascadero — it happens all in one night, and it is all in the city’s downtown district.
The town will become a Winter Wonderland on Friday, Dec. 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. — it’s a short winter, but oh the fun that will be had.
The Winter Wonderland — an Atascadero Main Street Association event — is in its 12th year and will feature three sled runs that are free of charge to everyone visiting, along with the Elks Little Train and photos with Santa Claus, Rudolph the Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. There will be an antique Model-A fire truck for rides; BMX demonstrations; and lots of entertainment. Downtown businesses will be open late with many holiday sales during this special event.
“This event will be the best Winter Wonderland ever,” said Main Street President Larry Wysong. “This is our city’s centennial year, and this Winter Wonderland will be a bigger venue than ever before. The Rotunda has all its scaffolding down, so visitors will have a view of city hall and the surrounding area like they haven’t had in years. We expect to see a lot more people for this year’s spectacular event.”For the complete article see the 11-06-2013 issue.
