City kicks off $564,000 parking project

ATASCADERO — A half-million-dollar project will bring the future of environmentally sound parking to the Atascadero Lake Park.

The city of Atascadero broke ground Friday on the site that will be a demo project for the city on the latest in parking lot technology.

The parking lot will mimic natural runoff conditions, thereby reducing stormwater volume and speed. The parking lot will include additional plants, trees and green-engineered structures to reduce pollution from cars and increased temperatures that are associated with large asphalt parking lots.
