Charles Paddock zoo will publicly celebrate panda twins on Saturday

Posted: Friday, Sep 20th, 2013

ATASCADERO Three-month-old red panda twins born at the Charles Paddock Zoo in June will be publicly celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 21. Their debut will be part of a day-long celebration in conjunction with International Red Panda Day.

Though the pandas were born in June, hot summer temperatures delayed their introduction to zoo-goers. Because of the high risk of mortality in captive-born cubs, zoo staff has been closely monitoring the young pandas and their mother with as little interaction as possible temperatures may stop them from meeting the public this weekend too, but if that happens the adults will be out for public viewing, and there will be photographs of so-far the babies.
