Templeton faces sewer rate hike

Posted: Friday, Sep 13th, 2013

TEMPLETON Templeton residents could soon see a hefty increase in their sewer bills each month as the Templeton Services District struggles to close their recent operating deficit and pay for its share of recent upgrades at the Paso Robles Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The district board voted at its Aug. 6 meeting to approve a recently completed wastewater rate study and to move forward with the implementation of the new rate, which would increase sewer rates from a fixed residential rate of $23.34 to a new fixed rate of $43.82 over the next five years. The rate for commercial and industrial service would rise from the current rate of $2.00 per 100 cubic feet to $7.02 per 100 cubic feet over the next five years. If approved, it would be the first sewer rate increase in Templeton since 2009.
