Four Atascadero men are bicycling across the United States to raise awareness of and financial support for wounded veterans. The Cross Country Cyclists for Veterans team (CCC4Vets) has more than 1,000 miles of road under their wheels since taking off from Anacortes, Washington on August 1.

The team consists of retired Marine Lt. Col. John Foldberg, team leader and self-avowed “benevolent dictator,” and three young men, all of whom have been training for the ride since September, 2012. Daniel Macfarlane, 20, is the team’s second-in-command, navigator, and bike maintenance man. Nathan Macfarlane, 17, takes care of the website updates and is the team photographer. Evan Gillham, 16, handles the administration and does the cooking for the four men.
