LEMOORE — Elaine Loretta Reviea Rodrigues Kydd, 72, of Lemoore died on Jan. 16, 2013 in Fresno.
Elaine was born on Nov. 5, 1940, to Doug and Arlene Reviea in San Luis Obispo. She was the second of three daughters. She was the “rebel” of the three and her father fondly nicknamed her “Butch.”
Elaine lived most of her life in Morro Bay, where she met Johnny Frank Rodrigues Sr. They were married on Feb. 11, 1956. They had five children, three boys and two girls. In 1974, they moved to Lemoore.
Elaine was a homemaker for many years and then worked for Fred Shaffer in San Luis Obispo and Pacific Care in Morro Bay for many years. She loved her job but had to retire at an early age due to health problems. In 1996, she moved in with her daughter, Debbie, and her children in Lemoore, where she resided until her death.
Even though she was considered disabled, you would never have known it. Her passion was taking care of and spending time with her family. She took great pleasure in raising her grandson, Austin, and babysitting for her two great-granddaughters, Kinedy and Kaylyn. They kept her busy and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
She loved to go to the local casinos and play the slots with her daughter, traveling, working in the yard, crafts, sewing and had many other hobbies. She will best be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and dear friend. She will be dearly missed.
Elaine is survived by her two sisters Marlene Gingg and family of Atascadero and Dianne (Tom) Medeiros and family of Arroyo Grande; her daughter, Debbie Bray of Lemoore; sons, Johnny Rodrigues Jr. of Oregon; Anthony and Dennis Rodrigues of Lemoore; grandchildren, Rick (Tabby) and Randall Bray, Jeannie Rodrigues (Mike), Anthony S. Rodrigues, Michael Newsom, Sheila and Austin Rodrigues, Markelle Mello and Jake and Patty Avila; great-grandchildren, Kaylyn Bray, Kinedy McClain, Leia and Christian Chavez, Shaun Paul Rodrigues, Billy, Max and Arlen Corial, Cheyann Rodrigues, Michael and Braylyn Newsom, Ryan Avila, Colby Randall Bray (due in May); many others that so fondly called her “mom” and “grandma;” and her beloved chihuahua, Peanut.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doug and Arlene Reviea; daughter, Denise Arlene Rodrigues; grandson, John Paul Rodrigues; brother-in-law, George Gingg; her first husband, Johnny, in 1993, and her second husband, Clark Kydd.
Elaine did not want any type of services or funeral. Her wish was to be cremated and buried with her daughter, Denise, in Cayucos. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. Ethel Red’s, 850 West D St. in Lemoore.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s favorite charity or an account has been set up to honor Elaine at EECU 1460 W 7th St. in Hanford. The account number is 11830688. This account will be used to help cover expenses of her burial and go towards furthering the education of her pride and joy, her grandson, Austin. For the complete article see the 02-06-2013 issue.
