Vivian Dumont obituary

Posted: Monday, Feb 11th, 2013

TEMPLETON — Vivian Laura (LaChance) Dumont, 90, died on Nov. 14, 2012, due to complications from Congestive Heart Failure.

She and her beloved husband, Leon Arthur Dumont, are both together again with their Lord. They were married for 69 years and spent the last 12 in California near their two sons.

Vivian was born on May 23, 1922, in North Anson, Maine, the daughter of Albert and Regina (Martin) LaChance.

After graduating from high school, Vivian worked in the woolen mill but spent most of her time at home raising their two sons. Vivian and Leon traveled to and from Florida for the winter until 1999 when they moved to California.

Vivian and Leon enjoyed roller skating, dancing (they took disco lessons), camping and playing cards. You could always find Vivian sitting on the porch having a cup of coffee doing a crossword puzzle or reading. You could see the joy on her face as she played with her grandchildren, especially scrabble, reading with them or doing puzzles. But, the highlight of her week would always be her weekly lunch date with Skip and Jeri.

Vivian had a big love for life. The only thing in comparison was her love for the New England Patriots. She was an avid fan. Everything was put on hold when the Patriots were on. Her family all have many great memories of their times with “Grammy and Grampy.” We love you and will miss you always.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon A. Dumont; and two sisters, Loretta Whittemore and Jeannette Violette.

She is survived by her son, Leon (Skip) Dumont and wife, Jeri of Atascadero; her son, Randy Dumont and wife, Tracy of Templeton; her sisters, Bonnie Gagne of Skowhegan, Maine and Annette Baker of Manchester, Maine; five grandchildren, Leon (Scott), Sandra (Kelly), Karly, Ashly, Colby and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. William’s Catholic Church in Atascadero on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at noon.

If you would like to send a card or letter to the family, send it to 1754 Las Tablas Road, Templeton, CA 93465, or email
