SAN MIGUEL — John “Jack” C Emery, 91, of San Miguel died on Nov. 17, 2012.
He was born to Helen Easton Emery and Alton Titus Emery in October 1921 in Paso Robles. He was delivered by Dr. Soby.
For 60-plus years, Jack has owned and operated the family beef cattle ranch in Indian Valley, San Miguel. He has been a good steward of the land, a good cowboy, friend, neighbor and a terrific story teller.
Jack was extremely proud of his service to his county during World War II. He was a supervisor at the Oakland Naval Shipyards prior to being drafted in the Army in 1944. He was stationed in the South Pacific where he was a heavy equipment operator in the Army Corp of Engineers.
Jack is preceded in death by his son, John A. Emery, and daughter, Joan Emery.
He is survived by his sister, Jean Emery (Steve); brother, Jayana Emery (Cathy); daughter, Jae Emery Eade (John); daughter-in-law, Andi Emery-Drayton (Steve and son, Spencer); granddaughters, Jamii Eade Pura (Stan) and Ashley Emery McLaughlin (Kevin); grandsons, Zac Dalton, John Dalton, John Eade Jr. (Sondra) and Alton Emery; stepchildren, Kyle Righetti, Tom Mailheau (Renee) and Cassie Mailheau; great-grandchildren, Kayce, Shane, Trevor, Tre, Emery and Brett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or Salvation Army.
A celebration of life will be held at Kuehl-Nicolay Chapel, 1703 Spring St. in Paso Robles, on Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m.For the complete article see the 11-23-2012 issue.
