Patricia Ann Kemper, 81, succumbed to pancreatic cancer on Oct. 31, 2012. She had battled various forms of cancer since 1973.
She was born in Douglas, Neb., in October 1931. She, along with the rest of the family, moved to Southern California in 1942. She worked in the trucking industry for about 35 years, the last 30 years for Pacific Auto Transport, a subsidiary of Southern Pacific Railroad.
She met her future husband, Vern, at the Catholic USO in downtown Los Angeles. They were married in 1952. Pat was past president of the now defunct St. Rose “Catholic Golden Agers” senior group. She assisted at the St. Rose annual rummage sale as a “pricer” for many years. She was also a reliable helper for the group that served lunch after funeral masses.
She is survived by her husband, Vern; one sister; a brother-in-law; sister-in-laws; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will take place at St. Rose Catholic Church in Paso Robles at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9.
