PASO ROBLES ó Ruth Cone La Berteaux, 92 died on Oct. 29, 2012, at her home in Paso Robles, with her daughters at her bedside.
Ruth was born in October 1920 in Itta Bena, Miss. She was a graduate of All Saints Episcopal College in Vicksburg, Miss., and Mississippi State College for women in Columbus, Miss., in 1944. She went to Washington, D.C. to work for the defense department, where she met Lynn La Berteaux, whom she married in 1950. The next year Lynnís job required a move to California.
They first lived in Ontario where their two daughters, Susan and Denise, were born. Later Lynn worked at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake. After his retirement they moved to Paso Robles, where they enjoyed the rest of their lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, O. Lynn La Berteaux; her parents, John E. Cone and Sallie Morris Cone; two brothers, John E. Cone and Fredrick P. Cone; and one sister, Elsie Cone Guin.
Ruth is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Susan La Berteaux and John Garrett of Weaverville and Denise La Berteaux and Bruce Garlinger of Weldon; one sister, Mary Cone of Byram, Miss.; three nephews, Bedford R. Guin of Carthage, Texas, Edward B. Guin of Stanley, N.C., and Fred T. Guin of Hot Springs, Ark.; three nieces Patricia Guin Biggers of Houston, Texas, Nancy Cone Nordan of Byran, Miss., and Teresa G. Ford of Woodville, Miss.
