ATASCADERO — It’s cold at night and it’s getting nothing but colder. For many of the area’s homeless, that means a heightened risk of death by exposure at worst; at best, it means a shortened lifespan from simple hard living.
The El Camino Homeless Organization helps mitigate that risk. But the homeless population in Atascadero is growing and there’s only so much space. ECHO has 31 beds and a “women and children first” policy, so if the shelter is full and the low is 41 degrees and rain, what’s a solo homeless fellow to do?
The answer, thanks to Father’s House, is “go to Father’s House.”
