Friday, June 22

Templeton Alzheimer’s/Dementia general interest support group, which is open to all that are interested, meets the fourth Friday of every month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the conference room of Rabobank, 1025 Las Tablas Road. Call Elana Peters at 975-8270 for details, and 434-2081 for free respite arrangements. This support group is co-sponsored with CAP Adult Day Services.



The Parkhill Community Church, 5678 Parkhill Road in Santa Margarita, will hold a rummage sale on June 23 at 9 a.m. Proceeds will go to community outreach for homeless shelters, loaves & fishes and senior centers.



The Atascadero Mayors’ Winemaker Dinner will be held at the Pavilion on the Lake in Atascadero on Friday, June 22. The gala begins at 5 p.m. with open wine sampling. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. This year’s Winemaker Dinner is jointly sponsored by Atascadero Kiwanis Club and the City of Atascadero. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward the completion of a new lakeside performance venue, which will be presented to the city on the occasion of its bicentennial celebration in 2013. A gourmet meal will be prepared and served by Pacific Harvest Catering, 33 local winemakers will participate both during and before the event, and there will be a silent and live auction to help raise funds for the bandstand endeavor and other projects. Each table of six will include one winemaker. Many of the wineries will also be pouring during the social hour. County Supervisor Jim Patterson will be available in the Martin Polin Regional Library, 6850 Morro Road in Atascadero, the second and fourth Friday of each month from 3 to 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend the open hours to talk with the supervisor.



Saturday, June 23

The Friends of the Atascadero Library, in partnership with Tom and Peggy O’Malley’s Portola Inn, will present the second annual Central Coast Children’s Classic on June 23 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This will be a day filled with active and educational entertainment for families with children between the ages of 3 and 10. Tickets are available at the Atascadero Library or at www.AtascaderoFriendsOfTheLibrary.org. The cost is $15 for children and $25 for adults and include a box lunch. The annual Atascadero Lakeside Wine Festival will be held on June 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Atascadero Lake Park. The event will include wine tasting, live music and food and art vendors. Tuesday, June 26

The Atascadero Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. at Atascadero City Hall in Council Chambers. For more information or to view the agenda, go to www.atascadero.org. The meeting is also aired live on KPRL AM1230.



Every fourth Tuesday of the month, Global Alliance for Balance and Healing hosts a pineal toning group, facilitated by a Global Alliance Healing team member from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Global Alliance Center, 22720 El Camino Real Ste. C, Santa Margarita. The pineal toning group is a free community outreach program and no registration is required. No experience is necessary. Information will be provided to those new to pineal toning. The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Tuesday Evenings at the Lake from June 19 through Aug. 28. The Atascadero Elks barbecue crew prepares the meals that are hosted by various community organizations. Barbecued chicken and sirloin with beans, bread, salad and beverage is served from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the Atascadero Community Band performing free “big band” concerts from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Lake Park bandstand. Tickets are available at the event or from any member of an organization that’s hosting a barbecue, or call the Chamber office at 466-2044 for additional information. Tickets are $12 each for those 12 and older, seniors 60 and over are $10 each and children 11 and under are $6. Takeout will be available. The hosts of the June 26 event are St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.



Wednesday, June 27

A food distribution is held at the Atascadero Grange Hall, 5035 Palma Ave., for seniors 60 and over on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 9:30 to 11 a.m. To qualify one person must have a monthly income of $1,381 or less, for two persons $1,839 and progressively higher for three and more.



A town hall meeting will be held on June 27 at 6 p.m. in the Atascadero High School gym to introduce the community’s new program, Lighthouse, which is sponsored by the Greyhound Foundation. Lighthouse is dedicated to overcoming addiction through awareness, prevention and intervention. The town hall meeting will address the concerns of drug and alcohol addition to the community. Thursday, June 28

The North County Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group meets monthly in the Pavilion Room at Twin Cities Community Hospital, 1100 Las Tablas Road in Templeton, on the last Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. This meeting is a group discussion. Man to Man is an American Cancer Society Program for men to learn about Prostate Cancer diagnosis and treatment options. The meetings offer objective, unbiased information about prostate cancer and encourage men and their families to discuss openly and share solutions to common problems. Man to Man is sponsored by the American Cancer Society with facilities provided by TCCH. These meetings are open to patients, spouses, family, friends and anyone interested. Festivities for the Walk to end Alzheimer’s kick off open house will be held on June 28 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Rabobank Community Room at 1025 Las Tablas in Templeton. The open house is the perfect way to jumpstart one’s involvement in the Paso Robles 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for teams, get ideas and inspiration for your team, enjoy refreshments and raffle prizes will be given out every 10 minutes. Twin Cities Community Hospital will hold a complimentary seminar, Arthritis Solutions, taught by Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Mark Kowall, on June 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. Complimentary light refreshments will be served to seminar attendees. The seminar will cover typical issues encountered with arthritis including: evaluation, advanced treatment options, reducing daily joint pain, new technologies available and a question and answer segment. Saturday, June 30

Irene Flores, the illustrator of the series “Mark of the Succubus,” and “Shojo Fashion Manga Art School: How to Draw Cool Looks and Characters,” will return to the Atascadero Library on 30 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Anyone between ages 11 and 19 is invited to attend this free program. Space is limited. Signups begin June 2. Light refreshments will be served.



The Brett Oswald Memorial Ride & Family Day will be held on June 30 at noon at Templeton County Park, 250 6th St. in Templeton. The event will include a tri-tip barbecue, raffle, slow drag races, live entertainment, swimming pool and beer and wine tasting. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children. The Atascadero Fourth of July celebration will be held at Atascadero Lake Park on July 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The day will start with three fun runs — 5K, 10K and one mile — and a pancake breakfast by the Lion’s Club. The day will include lunch and dinner for sale, old-fashioned games, live music, free admission to the zoo and wading pool, and more. For more information, go to www.visitatascadero.com.



Templeton’s annual Independence Day Parade, sponsored by the Templeton Kiwanis Club, will be held on July 4 at 10 a.m. and will run along Main Street. After the parade, there will be an awards ceremony, food, entertainment, music, fun and games. Before the parade, the Templeton Fire Department will hold its annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $4 a person or $1 for children under 10. Santa Margarita will hold its annual Fourth of July celebration on July 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community members are encouraged to decorate bikes and wagons in red, white and blue and join the parade down H street. Monday

Templeton Lions Club holds bingo every Monday at the American Legion Hall on Main Street. The doors open at 4:30 p.m. and games start at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 434-2844.



A Sign to Song class is held at the Colony Park Community Center, 5599 Traffic Way, on Mondays from 10 to 11 a.m. The class is a fun way to learn sign language by signing along with music. The class is free and is for adults 50-plus. Twin Cities Community Hospital holds Newborn and Parents Support Group every Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Founder’s Pavilion, 1100 Las Tablas Road in Templeton. All classes are free.



TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), an international nonprofit weight loss support group, meets in the basement room of the Atascadero Community Church United Church of Christ, 5850 Rosario Ave., on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Call 466-1697 or 462-2227 for more information.

Families Anonymous now meets every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at North County Connection, 8600 Atascadero Ave., Atascadero. The meetings are free and open to those who are concerned about the use of mind-altering substances, alcohol, drugs or behavior problems. For more information, call 462-8600.
