Posted: Friday, Jun 15th, 2012

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Ethel A. Davis, 91, died on Oct. 21, 2011, in San Luis Obispo.

Ethel was born in Texas, migrated to California in the late 1930s, moved to the Central Coast in the mid 1940s. She initially lived in Paso Robles and Templeton and later for 30 years in Atascadero.

Ethel worked for a rest home in Paso Robles and as a bookkeeper for the Gordon T. Davis Cattle Company, but is most remembered for her near 30 years as the bookkeeper for the Templeton Livestock Market.

In her later years, Ethel enjoyed taking her 280Z for Sunday drives around Morro Bay. She also enjoyed pot luck dinners with friends at the Club House at Rancho Del Bordo Mobile Home Park in Atascadero. Jazzercise, square and line dancing, were also favorite activities.

Ethel is survived by her three sons, Johnnie of Paso Robles; Darryl of Davis, and Jimmy of Moreno Valley; daughter, Margaret of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A private family remembrance was held on June 11 at Ethel’s favorite place on the coast. Her cremains are laid to rest at Chapel of the Roses.
