GREENFIELD — Gianna Pura, 79 of Greenfield died on March 10, 2012, at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula in Monterey.
Gianna was born on May 21, 1932, in Cugnasco, Switzerland. She came to the United States at the age of 17. She had known Aldo Elio Pura from Switzerland and they met again in the United States. Soon they were married. Together they had four children. They lived throughout South Monterey County and finally settled in Greenfield.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was the best cook in the world according to family. Her pastries were amazing. She enjoyed artwork and she was an accomplished artist specializing in oil paintings. She will be missed by all. She was a past member of the Swiss American Club and the Silver Kings and Queens. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and San Miguel Mission Parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aldo in 1998; brother, Ben Masciorini, and sister, Dolly Togni.
Gianna is survived by her children, Oliver Pura, Doris Rosen, Lynn Guess and Nicolette Breschini, and six grandchildren.
Per Gianna’s request, private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 182 El Dorado St., Monterey, CA 93940. Arrangements are pending with Eddington Funeral Services.
