Dorothy Lea Robbins, 74, of North Hollywood died on Feb. 9, 2012, at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys. Her death was the result of Huntington’s Disease, which she had battled for more than 30 years.
Dorothy was born to Sven A. “Archie” and Anna C. (Hansen) Tingdahl at Atascadero General Hospital in Atascadero on Aug. 25, 1937.
Dorothy grew up in Atascadero, graduating from high school in 1955, where she had been active in a number of school events.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and by siblings Frances Wachs, Audrey Brunton, Donald Tingdahl, Harvey Tingdahl, and Betty Hysell.
She is survived by her steadfast supporter, Walter “Walt” Robbins of Camarillo; sister, Arlene Oster of Atascadero; brother Marvin Tingdahl of Lancaster; son, Nathan Hawley of Ft. Worth, Texas, from her marriage to Wendell Hawley; son, Matthew Robbins of Denver, Colo., from her marriage to Walter Robbins; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Atascadero District Cemetery.For the complete article see the 02-17-2012 issue.
