Shelley Rae Richardson Krause, 48, of Atascadero died on Aug. 7, 2011, in her home with family by her side. She had been battling colon cancer for more than two years.
Shelley was born in Delano and raised by two loving parents, Doug and Sharon Richardson. She was the eldest of two children. The family moved to Paso Robles in September 1977. Shelley attended and graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1981.
She married Edward Westlund of Atascadero at the age of 19; however they shortly divorced. Working at Napa Auto Parts in Morro Bay, Shelley met Norman Yeager of Atascadero. She and her fellow coworker began dating and moved to Coalinga after Norman received a job opportunity. The couple wed in Las Vegas in February 1984. One year later they brought their first son, Brian Yeager, into the world in March 1985. Their second son, Patrick Yeager, followed in December 1988. After six years of marriage, they divorced.
In June 1995 Shelley married James Krause at St Luke’s Episcopal Church. Jim had two children of his own, Angie, who was serving in the United States Army, and David, 16. Together Jim and Shelley loved to go fishing and camping. Shelley was actively involved in her church and volunteered in the community with Atascadero Loaves & Fishes and the El Camino Homeless Organization.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, riding horses and gardening. Shelley was a very loving and giving woman who had an amazing love for all animals, the San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas. Shelley is survived by her husband, James Krause; their blended family of four adult children and their spouses, Angie Barrett (Rob), David Krause (Irene), Brian Yeager (Kaylyn) and Patrick Yeager; three grandchildren, Zak Barrett, Luke and Blake Yeager; parents, Doug and Sharon Richardson; brother Stephen Richardson (Sherry); grandmother, Winona Daniels; one uncle; two aunts; 10 cousins; nieces; nephews and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5318 Palma Ave., Atascadero, on Saturday, Aug. 13 at 11 am. Please come join us in honoring this amazing woman.
