Heather Young/Atascadero News Children from across San Luis Obispo County show their animals at the California Mid-State Fair.

Every year the livestock area at the California Mid-State Fair comes alive with activity when the 4-H and FFA members arrive with their animals.

Junior livestock began arriving on Saturday and by Monday, the area is full of animals and their caretakers.

Friday, July 30

8 a.m.: Beef showmanship

6 p.m.: Replacement heifer sale



Saturday, July 31

8 a.m.: Junior livestock auction



Sunday, Aug. 1

9 a.m.: Round robin showmanship

11 a.m.: Pee Wee Showmanship

1 p.m.: Livestock judging contest
