Grace passed away July 16, 2010 in the hospital in San Jose surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in October 1917 in Alhambra to Oscar and Christina Fowler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Coleman; both her parents; and her brother, Raymond Fowler.
During World War II, she worked at the Los Angeles McDonnell Douglas Plant and was proud to be a “Rosy the Riveter,” during which time she met and married Harmon Randolph Coleman on October 18, 1942.
They enjoyed 24 years of marriage until his death on May 16, 1967.
She is survived by two children, Donald (Diana) Coleman of Paso Robles and Beverly (Francis) Simoneau of San Jose; five grand children, Richard Simoneau of Morro Bay, Leah (Jeff) Florence of Los Gatos, Donald (Jeannette) Coleman, Jr. of Tillamook, Ore., Debbie (Jeremy) Strand of Paso Robles and Denae’ (Gabrial) Gomez of Paso Robles; nine great grand children and another on the way, Haley Florence, Molly Florence, Gabrial Gomez Jr., Ethan Coleman, Gavin Strand, Korbin Coleman, Christopher Gomez, Gracie Strand, Jayden Gomez.
She loved being called Grandma Grace, and making crochet afghans for the greatgrands.
After raising her children, Grace worked as a teacher’s aid in Atascadero and then at Beacons Van and Storage in Paso Robles for 18 years.
Her favorite things were watching TV, crocheting, going out to dinner, and Thursday’s visit to the hair dresser for all the chit-chat.
She will be missed very much by her family.
Graveside services will be held at Atascadero Cemetery on Friday, July 23 at 11 a.m.
