Michael Martinez, 31, of Bakersfield was charged with one count of mayhem, two felony counts of assault with great bodily injury and giving false information to a police after he reportedly punched and bit several Club Soda patrons in the early morning hours Saturday.
Atascadero Police Department officers were called to the El Camino Real bar with a report of a physical altercation in the back parking lot at 12:30 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived to the scene, they identified three people, two men and one woman who all appeared to be victims of an assault, according to a police press release. Witnesses supplied police with a license plate number, which led to an Atascadero residence where Martinez was later arrested. At the time of his arrest, he gave officers his name but an incorrect birth date, believed to be because he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant in Santa Barbara County.
