Friday’s loss to Pioneer Valley is pretty much the season in a nutshell for the Atascadero High School varsity boys soccer team.
The Greyhounds were tied near the end of the game with the Panthers, but a Pioneer Valley goal in the last minute of the game ended the Hounds’ season.
“It does [sum up the season],” said Atascadero coach Andrew Wilkie. “We get into the last two minutes and we give up a goal. That’s rough.”
Giving up a goal in the final minutes of a game has been a recurring theme for the Hounds all year.
Atascadero actually had a 2-0 lead after UC Davis-bound Alex Aguiar scored a pair of unassisted goals in the first 13 minutes of the game. But the Panthers scored once in the first half to trail 2-1 at halftime, then scored twice in the second half to win it.
