Tonight is a big night for the Atascadero High School football team.

First of all, it’s homecoming. Plus, it’s the PAC 7 League opener. Finally, the opponent is Righetti, which has been a thorn in the Greyhounds’ side for years.

“Righetti looks a lot like the teams we have faced in the recent past,” said Atascadero coach Vic Cooper. “Same players, different names.”

One thing that does work to the Hounds’ advantage is the bye week, which has helped the team address some of its recent injury issues.

“Most of the guys that had missed games are getting close to being ready to play,” Cooper said. “We’ll see how they all feel on Friday before we make any decisions.”
