Weather and politics use similar analogies, such as “storm clouds on the horizon” portending impending danger. America has been experiencing some harsh weather this year, especially in the East, with ice storms and snow covering a major percentage of the North American continent, more so than in decades. It began just prior to Thanksgiving with a major ice storm closing the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, obviously because someone was alerted that my wife and I were traveling East through Dallas. Naturally all of our flights were cancelled, which resulted in a grand airline tour of America. We travelled 6000 miles through five states in 48 hours in sardine cans doubling as airliners. All of this of course is the result of global warming but to those shivering in sub-zero temperatures this week, the cause of their discomfort may not be so obvious.For the complete article see the 12-31-2013 issue.
