ATASCADERO On Saturday, Feb. 18, from 6 to 10 p.m., San Luis Obispo County residents from both near and far are invited to help prevent child abuse and support families in need at a benefit concert with Snap Jackson and the Knock on Wood Players.
Hosted by three local preventative child abuse organizations the Knights of Columbus, Center for Family Strengthening and Central Coast Link the concert will be held at the Atascadero Pavilion on the Lake, 9315 Pismo Ave.
Although one out of every 10 children in San Luis Obispo County are abused, it is important for families to understand and trust that it is in fact, preventable, said Ann Berry-Gallegos of the Center for Family Strengthening.
The Knights of Columbus, Center for Family Strengthening and Central Coast Link are all individual programs who essentially share one common goal preventing child abuse, Berry-Gallegos said. The three are collaborating together (through this concert) in an effort to not just raise awareness, but to better spot and address child abuse, support and align families with the services they need, and simply educate the public on the realities of familial situations.
The event will feature musical performances by a band with a bluegrass, country and soul kind of feel.
An extremely entertaining and interactive band, Snap Jackson and the Knock on Wood Players are sure to present the crowd with a night of lots of fun and dancing, Berry-Gallegos said. Concerts (in general) are almost always successful. They are an easy way (for organizations) to be recognized and to get the community involved. Simply put, they make for a fun evening for a good cause.
Tickets cost $30 per person and include a selection of local eats, desserts and wines. They are available for all ages and can be purchased from Ann Berry-Gallegos at 805-441-4897.
