SANTA MARIA — Even though it was the first time the Atascadero High School varsity football team’s defense had let Pioneer Valley score, Friday’s 22-16 win was still an impressive defensive effort.
The Panthers had 199 yards of total offense, and the Greyhounds had several highlight-reel plays, including a Hunter Stemper interception with 32 seconds left in the game. That ended the Panthers’ final threat.
