Camacho returns to state meet

CERRITOS — Templeton High School senior Savannah Camacho has qualified to advance to the CIF state track meet after finishing in second place at last weekend’s Southern Section Masters Meet.

Camacho finished in second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.26, behind only national record holder Amy Weissenbach.

Weissenbach outran Camacho in 2010 and 2011 to earn the state title in the 800 both years and finished at 2:05.55 at this year’s Masters.

Camacho is set to run tonight in the qualifying round of the 2012 CIF Track and Field State Championships at Buchanan High School in Clovis at 5 p.m. and hopes to advance to the championship round on Saturday at 6 p.m.
