With 179 in attendance at the last All-Comers Meet of 2010, the total attendance in the meet’s 10th year was 933.
The meets this year broke records, both in attendance and on the field. Last week’s meet set an attendance record with 254, and two weeks ago, Ralph Fruguglietti set an American record for his age in the discus.
Event organizer Lou Coppo said that while the 2003 meets were fun with all the participants training for the 2004 Olympics, this year has been good as well.
“That Olympic year was really cool, and this year has been fun because it’s the 10th year, we’ve broken records, we’ve set goals and achieved them,” Coppo said.
Next year, organizers are shooting to average 200 participants per meet — this year averaged 186 — with 22 volunteers per week — this year averaged 18. There is also the possibility of having two long jump pits and having the long jump each week, which would up the need for volunteers.
