ATASCADERO — Thanks to the generous efforts of the Atascadero Kiwanis Club, a project to build a park in the city specifically designed for those with special needs is one step closer to reality.
The Kawanis Club presented the group Parents of Joy, who are coordinating fundraising efforts for the park, with a check for $30,000 at a club meeting Thursday morning. All of the funds donated for the park where raised through the Kiwanis’ annual Mayors’ Winemaker Dinner event, which took place June 27 and featured live and silent auctions with all of the proceeds going toward the park project.
“We had our Mayors’ Winemaker Dinner last Friday and it turned out to be a very good success,” said Kiwanis present Albert Almodova. “We thought it would be a good time to support this special needs park project and we look forward to supporting you more in the future.”
