Women’s shelter moves office to Paso Robles

Posted: Wednesday, Nov 17th, 2010

It’s been a good year for the North County Women’s Shelter & Resource Center.

Not only did the non-profit receive much-needed state funding and a spirited new director, after 25 years in Atascadero, the North County Women’s Shelter recently moved its headquarters to a much roomier and better-equipped building located in the heart of Paso Robles. The new location officially reopened on Monday, Nov. 15.

Located at 1030 Vine Street, the new building boasts double the space at 2,800 square-feet for the same rent. Women’s Shelter director Jenny Adams said the location is better all around.

“Not only is there more space, but the space is configured much better for our services to be very confidential. This is going to be a much better fit for our clients,” she said.

Adams said it’s also important to note that undisclosed shelters located in Atascadero and Paso Robles will not be affected during the move and the 24-hour hotline will still be available to women in need.

The move to Paso also gives the shelter a larger reach when helping women in tough situations, she said.
