City renews employee agreements

ATASCADERO -- The Atascadero City Council voted unanimously at its meeting July 8 to approve agreements with four different employee groups, extending their current agreements for another two years with some minor changes.
The council approved agreements with the Atascadero Police Association, the Service Employees International Union, the Mid-Management Professionals Association and a group of non-represented employees from upper management.

Teen to be charged for setting creek fires

ATASCADERO -- An Atascadero teen will be facing charges after allegedly setting two fires near Atascadero Creek Friday.
Multiple parties reported the first fire around 2:21 p.m. Friday and the first arriving firefighters found a 25-foot by 25-foot area of the creek bed burning at a moderate rate of spread, according to a press release issued by the Atascadero

Firefighters battling brush fire in Atascadero

Atascadero Fire Department and Cal Fire firefighters are currently battling a blaze in the Atascadero creek bed off of Santa Ynez Avenue between Curbaril Avenue and Portola Road.
As of 3 p.m. firefighters nearly had the half-acre blaze under control.

Mud around Atascadero Lake presents a sticky situation

ATASCADERO -- City crews have installed five additional signs on the east side of Atascadero Lake, warning people to stay out of the mud surrounding the receding shoreline.

Police warn of frequent pursuits

ATASCADERO -- High-speed chases are apparently becoming a regular occurrence in Atascadero and the Atascadero Police Department wants to make sure residents are aware of the situation.
