Music, movies and mammals are just some of the attractions at Atascadero parks where residents and visitors gather for socialization and recreation.

Atascadero Community Services Director Brady Cherry reported park goings-on to the city council and parks and recreation commission at a joint meeting.

Cherry started his report with the Charles Paddock Zoo.

“We’ve had some very exciting things going on at the zoo this year,” Cherry said. “... Accreditation was achieved, and so we’ve been celebrating that.”

New restrooms at the zoo are now complete, and construction of a gift shop and zoo entrance are under way, expected to be finished this month.
