After beating Righetti 45-20 on Tuesday, the Atascadero High School varsity wrestling team finished a perfect 6-0 in PAC 7 League dual meets and holds a commanding lead in the league standings heading into the league finals.
The league champion is determined by how a team does in its league duals and also by how it does at the league tournament. That’s resulted in split titles in past years.
But this time, the Greyhounds have a larger lead heading into the league finals, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Pioneer Valley High School. Paso Robles beat Righetti, Pioneer Valley beat Paso Robles and Righetti beat Pioneer Valley. Since Atascadero beat all three, every team but the Hounds has at least two league losses.
But Atascadero coach Jeff Spiller said he didn’t know what situation would have to unfold at the league tournament for the Hounds to lose the PAC 7 title.
