The Atascadero High School varsity boys basketball team was able to weather a flurry of 3-pointers from Arroyo Grande by making plenty of their own, making some 2-pointers as well and playing defense en route to a 54-48 win over the Eagles on Friday.
With the win, the Greyhounds are 15-6 overall, 7-1 in PAC 7 play.
“We got good play out of a lot of players,” said Atascadero coach Jerry Tamelier. “Thane [Atkinson] had a hot hand tonight, Troy [Norris] really brought some steals and some good plays, Logan [Allen] hit some good shots and Alex [Wolf] had a good game. We had to have a solid game because it was a well-played game.”
Atkinson scored a team-high 18 points and made four 3-pointers, including two in the third quarter, which was when the threes really started raining from the sky. Wolf and Norris each hit one from beyond the arc, and the Eagles hit four 3-pointers in the quarter as well for a total of eight between the two teams.
